Delynn graduated from Warwick Valley High School in 1978. At 17-years-old, she left home to join the U.S. Air Force where she served for five years. During that time, she earned several awards. She was promoted to Senior Airman Below The Zone, received medals for Good Conduct and Longevity, and earned the Air Force Achievement Medal for Meritorious Service. Delynn left the US Air Force with an honorable discharge in 1983 to assume the duties of mother to her first son Aaron.
Delynn began her college career at Motlow State Community College where she earned an Associate’s Degree. Then, she attended Middle Tennessee State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and her Tennessee Teaching Certification. In 1994, Delynn traveled with her husband, Coach Rodney McCash, to Dallas, Texas where she began her teaching career at James Madison High School. While there, she finished her Master of Liberal Arts Degree at Southern Methodist University.
After their son Dallas was born, Delynn and her husband moved back to Jefferson City where they have lived for the past 15 years. Delynn taught 7th grade English at Maury Middle School for several years. She was presented the Middle School Educator of the Year Award by the Jefferson County Education Association. She is currently an English as a Second Language Specialist at Alpha Elementary School.
Delynn is proud to be the grandmother of two wonderful grandsons, Alex and Noah. She and her husband, Rodney, are active members at First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City. Her favorite things include boating on Cherokee Lake, going out for a gander in the mountains, working on artistic projects, and spending time with her family and dogs.
